Trump Demands Investigation Into “Triple Sabotage” at UN

Donald Trump is demanding a formal investigation into what he’s calling a “triple sabotage” during his recent visit to the United Nations. The former president claims three separate technical glitches—a halted escalator, a malfunctioning teleprompter, and audio issues during his speech—were deliberate attempts to embarrass him. “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He says the incidents were “very sinister,” adding that he and Melania nearly fell on the escalator and that the auditorium’s sound was “completely off.”

Trump’s concerns are backed by US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz, who said the issues were “unacceptable” and warned they “pose serious safety and security risks.” Waltz also mentioned reports that some UN staff joked about disabling escalators ahead of Trump’s arrival. The Secret Service is now reportedly involved, and both Trump and the White House are calling for all security tapes related to the escalator to be preserved. “The people that did it should be arrested!” Trump said.

The UN, meanwhile, has offered alternative explanations. Officials say the escalator’s emergency stop may have been triggered by Trump’s own videographer and clarified that the teleprompter was operated by the US team. Regarding the audio, a spokesperson explained the system is designed for translated audio via earpieces. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has reportedly ordered a full internal review and promised “full transparency” with US authorities.
