Thailand and Cambodia Agree to Ceasefire
Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate and unconditional ceasefire starting at midnight on July 28th, ending five days of the worst border fighting in ten years that left 33 dead and displaced thousands. The breakthrough came after mediation talks hosted by Malaysia, where Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced both nations had reached a "common understanding" to stop the violence.
Thai acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed the agreement during a joint appearance, shaking hands to mark the deal. The ceasefire follows pressure from Donald Trump, who warned continued conflict would jeopardize future trade deals with the U.S.
