Snoop Dogg Runs 200m Exhibition Race While Commentating At U.S. Olympic Trials
Snoop Dogg, known for his rap skills, made an unexpected appearance at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The 52-year-old participated in a 200-metre exhibition race, clocking a time of 34.44 seconds. "34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad," Snoop said proudly after the race.
Dressed in a red, blue, and white tracksuit with Kobe Bryant’s face on it, Snoop ran against former Olympic medalist Ato Boldon and NCAA champion Wallace Spearmon. Although he finished third, his performance and enthusiasm captivated the audience.
Snoop’s presence wasn’t limited to the track. He also entertained viewers with his commentary on the men's 3000m steeplechase for NBC. "What we’re about to see right now is they’re about to get to dipping, gripping, riding, slipping, and hopefully not sliding," he humorously remarked.
His reaction to athletes jumping off the hurdles was equally amusing: "Oh, he’s jumping on top of the hurdle. You can do that?! That was a cold trick right there. I like that one. Went off the tippy-top."
NBC praised Snoop’s commentary as "ELECTRIC" on their X account, with fans echoing the sentiment. One fan tweeted, "NEED THIS IN THE OLYMPICS," while another added, "Snoop gonna always be an icon."
Snoop Dogg, who has been involved in sports through his Snoop Youth Football League, will continue his role as a Special Correspondent for NBC’s primetime Olympics coverage in Paris. He’ll join host Mike Tirico to provide unique insights and entertaining reports starting July 26.
Reflecting on the weekend, Snoop posted on his X account, "This wknd was fun … much respect to all tha world class athletes … see yall in Paris."
