NHS doctor suspended over alleged antisemitic social media posts

After making allegations of antisemitic remarks on social media, an NHS resident doctor was barred by a medical tribunal for 15 months. Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan, a 31-year-old trainee trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, was also accused of supporting

violent action and terrorist organisations. Dr Aladwan's
may have an effect on patient satisfaction
in both her and the field, according to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS), while patients could be
concerned" if they were to seek medical assistance from her, Dr. Aladwan, a British Palestinian, denies making a racial or hate speech.

The GC's Fitness to Practice Act (GMC), an autonomous body that controls doctors, physician associates, and anaesthesia associates in order to safeguard patient welfare, is currently investigating her for patient protection. Following allegations that Dr Aladwan had made antisemitic or offensive remarks on blogs that also appeared to promote terrorism, the GMC launched an investigation. Dr. Aladwan's suspected posts on X included antisemitic conspiracy theories, as well as statements that

demonise, or promote mistrust against Jews in general, their history, and their way of life,
the tribunal heard. Her counsel told the tribunal that there were no facts that her activities had
any effect on patient safety or her ability to practice her duties as a doctor. Dr Aladwan's suspension will go into operation today and will be reviewed within six months. The hearing, which took place in Manchester, was an interim orders tribunal (IOT), finding that Dr Aladwan's work should be restricted while the GMC's probe takes place. The allegations are not investigated, but it does not decide on them. It
notes that there is no evidence to suggest that any patient complaints have been raised or that any patients have been harmed" in the tribunal's decision, according to the tribunal.

Dr Aladwan was previously an IOT in September, which revealed that no restrictions should be placed on her. Following the September verdict and the Manchester synagogue attack in early October, a decision was made on October 3rdwan's case to an IOT hearing.

Dr. Aladwan said in reaction to the tribunal's decision on X:

Let this decision stand as the clear evidence that there is no independent British medical oversight. Who can and cannot practice medicine in the United Kingdom is determined by the 'Israeli' and Jewish lobby.
This is not an end,
she said. It's the start of a much bigger fight for our institutions' integrity. Medical professionals have the right to
liberation of belief, privacy, and expression,
according to the GMC's social media guidelines, but
using social media "has to be balanced with the potential effect on other people's rights and interests.
