Man and woman, both 90, die in house fire

In a house fire in north London, a man and a woman, both 90, died. Just after 02:00 GMT, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) was dispatched to a semi-detached house on Albemarle Road, Barnet. The fire had broken out on the ground floor, but the reason is unknown. According to the Metropolitan Police, the victims' next of kin had been warned and were being served by specialist officers.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown, a force spokesperson said, and an investigation into the circumstances is underway.

Officers arrived on the scene and assisted the LFB with road closures while firefighters attempted to extinguish the fire while firefighters continued to exorbit the fire.
About 25 firefighters tackled the fire and brought the fire under surveillance shortly after 03:00.
