Xbox Rolls Out New Features for Captures, Achievement Sorting, and Cloud Saves

Microsoft has begun testing a series of quality-of-life dashboard updates for Xbox console users, bringing long-requested improvements to gameplay recording, progress tracking, and save file management.

The new features are available first to Xbox Insiders enrolled in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring before expanding to all console owners in the coming weeks.

Audio-Inclusive Captures and Privacy Controls

A key addition to the platform is the ability to record voice audio directly alongside gameplay video captures.

Players can now include party chat or general game chat in their clips to capture live reactions while playing with friends. To protect user privacy, voice audio operates on a strict opt-in model, requiring individual party members to manually permit their voices to be recorded.

Enhanced Achievement Sorting and Cloud Save Restores

For players tracking Gamerscore and unlocking progress, Xbox has revamped the achievement interface with flexible sorting methods.

Instead of being restricted to the standard 'last played' sorting, users can arrange their achievement history in ascending or descending order by several new parameters:

Xbox is also introducing a direct cloud save recovery tool. Console owners can browse and restore earlier synced save files directly from the dashboard if a save becomes corrupted or if they wish to replay specific sections. The restore feature debuts on Forza Horizon 6 and is accessible via "Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Restore saved data" with support for further titles planned in upcoming updates.

Expanded Wishlists Amid Hardware Price Adjustments

Alongside the Insider tests, Xbox has expanded wishlist capacity for all players, raising the storage limit to 1,000 games to help users track backlogs and upcoming releases.

These software enhancements arrive shortly after Microsoft introduced console price increases, raising certain Xbox Series X and Series S models by up to $150 in the United States and up to £220 in the United Kingdom.
