Sky Glass and Stream Users Face Widespread Outage

Sky Glass and Stream customers have been left frustrated as a widespread technical issue has affected hundreds of devices, preventing TVs from turning on. 

 

The problem began on Thursday evening, with reports flooding in across social media and outage monitoring sites. According to Downdetector, hundreds of users reported issues, and as of Friday morning, many were still facing difficulties.

 

Users reported that their Sky Glass TVs and Stream devices were stuck in standby mode with a red flashing light, leaving them unable to watch TV or access apps like Netflix and Disney+. 

 

The outage marks a significant disruption for Sky, whose Glass TVs are popular for their broadband-based streaming service. The issue also affected Sky Stream pucks, which offer access to various streaming apps without the need for a satellite dish.

 

Sky Glass users take to social media over outage

Many took to social media to vent their concerns, with some considering cancelling their service altogether.

 

One user voiced frustration, stating, "We pay a lot of money each month for the use of your services and understand at times faults happen, but 11 hours so far with no end in sight, it's not good."

Sky acknowledged the issue on its help account on X (formerly Twitter), stating that their technical teams were working to fix the problem. 

 

The company provided a troubleshooting guide for users, recommending manual restarts of both the Sky Glass TVs and Sky Stream devices. The steps included switching the device off at the mains and pressing the standby button to initiate a recovery process.

Despite Sky's attempts to address the issue, customers expressed frustration over the lack of clear communication and a timeline for resolution. Some speculated that a faulty update might be the cause, though Sky has not confirmed this.

 

Sky's statement read, "We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused," but many customers remain dissatisfied. 

 

One social media user expressed scepticism about compensation, saying, "Bet we won't get any money knocked off our bill."

 

As the outage continues, users are eagerly awaiting a full fix and hoping for compensation for the prolonged disruption to their services. Sky has assured customers that once the issue is resolved, they will assess compensation where necessary.
