Four Killed In Michigan Mormon Church Arson And Shooting Attack

A tragic attack has shaken Grand Blanc, Michigan, after a gunman drove a truck into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sunday, opened fire during worship, and set the building on fire. Police say at least four people were killed and eight injured before the suspect, 40-year-old Thomas Jacob Sanford from Burton, was shot dead by responding officers just eight minutes after the first emergency call.

Authorities say Sanford used an assault-style rifle and gasoline to carry out what the FBI is calling an "act of targeted violence," though the motive remains unknown. Investigators are combing through Sanford’s phone records and searching his home. Bomb threats in the area followed the attack, with Michigan State Police confirming multiple locations had been cleared.

Officials say more victims may still be found in the wreckage. President Trump called it “yet another targeted attack on Christians,” while Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said, “Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable.”
