Popular streamer Kaitlyn 'Amouranth' Siragusa has made a significant investment in the esports scene by purchasing a major stake in Houston-based Wildcard Gaming.
Known for her controversial yet wildly successful content on platforms like Twitch, Amouranth is expanding her business ventures into the competitive gaming industry. She now joins other prominent content creators like Disguised Toast and MoistCr1TiKaL in owning an esports team.
Amouranth, who began streaming on Twitch in 2016 and now has over 6 million followers, revealed her investment on June 20th.
John Griffin, Wildcard’s co-owner, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting Amouranth’s savvy business acumen and the timing of the move as the esports industry stabilises.
“I’ve always had my eye on esports,” Amouranth said, referencing her admiration for the work other creators have done with their own organisations. She believes Wildcard Gaming is the perfect opportunity to help shape a growing organisation. Amouranth plans to leverage her massive following to bring a new audience to Wildcard, participating in watch parties and promoting new initiatives.
Amouranth's involvement with Wildcard Gaming will include promoting a new apparel line and hosting watch parties for the Rainbow 6 Pro League. She also teased the construction of a performance centre and office space in Texas, further cementing her commitment to the team’s growth.
This isn't Amouranth's first business venture. She has invested in various industries, including gas stations, energy drinks, and inflatable pool toys. Her recent move into esports aligns with her diverse investment strategy, and she aims to bring her unique brand of entertainment to the competitive gaming world.
Esports fans and industry insiders are keenly watching this development, as Amouranth’s influence could significantly impact Wildcard Gaming’s reach and popularity. Her playful yet competitive announcement video hinted at rivalries with other streamer-owned teams like Moist and Disguised Toast, adding an extra layer of excitement to her entry into the esports arena.
Overall, Amouranth's investment in Wildcard Gaming showcases her strategic approach to business and her interest in diversifying her portfolio. As esports continues to grow, having high-profile streamers involved brings additional attention and new audiences to the scene.
