Stunning Victory: Aston Villa Upset Arsenal at Emirates

Stunning Victory: Aston Villa Upset Arsenal at Emirates

Setting the Stage

Emirates Stadium was the spot for Aston Villa to pull off one of the best performances that left Arsenal struggling with disarray and thus altering the trend of the English Premier League race by title. Along with Manchester City the leader of the balance sheet, Villa's win turned out to be an important milestone for the season storyline of the remaining parts of the championship.

A Strong Start

The game began with great tension unwinding in Arsenal’s neck especially after Liverpool lost to Crystal Palace unexpectedly.

Nevertheless, Arsenal could not live up to their expectations and were hardly able to withstand an imposing Aston Villa team managed by Unai Emery, a stalwart who is returning to his old and brave club.

Villa's Dominance

However, amid the fact that Arsenal held most of the match, the newcomer made it difficult for the host, for the visiting team showed a fully professional approach.

The unremitting hampering efforts of the visitors in the end have been useful to them in that they won the match, which allowed them five valuable points higher than the dream Tottenham in the fourth position.

Breaking the Deadlock

It was only in the 84th minute that they were able to score for the first time and Bailey proved to be the crucial factor as Villa went on to emerge triumphant.

Bailey's strike only followed previous attempts from Ollie Watkins and Youri Tielemans to get the first goal, demonstrating Villa's cruising attack.

Arsenal's Disappointment

Although Liverpool suffered a loss, Arsenal would have had the opening to secure the title, but this didn’t go down as they lacked the zeal for victory. Martinez, the former Arsenal goalkeepers, heroic stint after all, did not redeem the team. They lost due to the failure to capitalize on their opportunities and succeeded only in making their fans disappointed.

Villa's Victory Margin

Villas could have been more victorious with the unbalance of the loss of Arsenal goal, but the opposition were dogging Arsenal without any doubt. Watkins and Tielemans were booted back from behind with their efforts but this could be a demonstration of Villa's attacking danger and more importantly, Emery's tactical findings.

Emery's Masterclass

The current EPL team - Villa undertook a dramatic appearance under Arsenal’s legendary manager Emery, who masterfully employed his skills of motivation and organization of the team to achieve perfection.

Villa were always a team who at the weekend are willing to pressurize the opposition and their long-pronounced possession are complimented by Emery's set up and leadership.
