Shania Twain Prepares for Glastonbury Festival Debut with Legends Slot Performance
Shania Twain Packs Her Wellies for Glastonbury Festival
Shania Twain, the Canadian country-pop icon, is set to make her debut at the Glastonbury Festival this summer. The 58-year-old singer will perform in the coveted Legends Slot on the Pyramid Stage, sharing the lineup with headliners Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and SZA.
Preparing for the Glastonbury Experience
In a recent interview on the "How to Fail" podcast with host Elizabeth Day, Twain expressed her excitement about performing at Worthy Farm in June. “I am getting into the spirit of the whole experience. I will be bringing rubber boots – wellies, as you call them here,” she said. “I want to go to other stages, and I’ve heard that you should be prepared for the mud. I will probably wear a cowboy hat if it’s raining while going around the stages, so I can keep myself from looking like a wet rat.”
Fashion and Performance Plans
Twain admitted she hasn't decided on her outfit for the festival yet but is confident she'll figure it out. She also talked about her approach to performing, particularly regarding the challenge of remembering lyrics. “I don’t beat myself up too much when it comes to that failure. It’s challenging to remember that many lyrics. But when people are singing along with me and they get the words wrong, it throws me right off. Even when they stop singing, sometimes I lose where I am.”
Reflecting on Personal Loss
In an emotional moment during the podcast, Twain discussed her biggest regret — wishing her late mother could witness her success. “They say not to wish for things you can’t change. But you have triggers like an award show. My mum was there for all of the beginning and none of the success. It’s regrettable in the deepest way that she never got to witness anything.”
Excitement for the Legends Slot
Twain, who gained worldwide fame in the late Nineties and early 2000s with albums like Come On Over and Up!, was thrilled to be part of this year’s Glastonbury lineup. “The Legends Slot at GLASTONBURY 2024... Another jewel in my crown!!” she wrote on Instagram. “I feel so honoured and so excited about this one! Thinking about what to wear already... and tell me, what should we sing together?! Let’s make history this summer with this ultimate dream performance!”
Continuing Her Musical Journey
Twain’s Glastonbury booking follows the release of her sixth studio album, Queen of Me, last year. She joins a prestigious list of previous Legends Slot performers, including Diana Ross, Barry Gibb, Kylie Minogue, and Lionel Richie.
Upcoming Performances
In addition to Glastonbury, Twain will headline the British Summer Time festival in London on Sunday, July 7. She will be performing alongside stars like Stevie Nicks, Robbie Williams, SZA, Kings of Leon, K-Pop band Stray Kids, and Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, who will perform on dates across June and July.
