Mum jailed for murdering five-year-old son at home

A mother who was killed her five-year-old son while dealing with a mental health crisis was sentenced to at least nine years in prison. Claire Button, 35, attempted suicide after her son, Lincoln, was killed at the family's home in South Ockendon, Essex, on December 15th. According to Basildon Crown Court, she had been suffering from a mental disorder as a result of the youngster's relentless demands,
who was autistic and nonverbal. Lincoln's death was preventable, according to Judge Samantha Leigh, and there had been missed opportunities
for intervention.
The judge characterized the situation as one of the worst I've heard in the last 30 years,

She became so ill, the lack of assistance, and no 999 response was the final straw,fully heartbreaking. Warning: this story contains troubling information. During the assassination of Button, the ambulance services were dispatched for assistance, but the police were told there was a 10-hour wait for assistance.
Judge Leigh said.We all know that supplies are limited, but that isn't good enough.
Button's mental health spiralled
as a result of her son's relentless demands,

Lincoln had in public, she said she had startedhearing voices in her head.
Judge Leigh said. Lincoln, on the other hand, was particularly vulnerable, and there had been a clear abuse of trust. Prosecutors also argued that Button's degree of mental illness did not significantly influence her judgment and reasoning.I admit she was scared and didn't see a way out of what was going on,
When Lincoln arrived at the family's house in Windstar Drive after work, his father, Nicky, discovered his body. He had been fatally smothered by Button, who said she had been hearing a dark, deep, frightening, screaming
voice instructing her to kill him.
Judge Leigh continued, "She would have died as well.If it hadn't been for her husband's return home when he did,
Button admitted to murdering Lincoln by manslaughter, but jurors found her not guilty of murder on Thursday. A lack of support for Button, according to Mark Cotter, who was defending her, resulted in a terrible crisis for her.
