Man accused of train stabbings faces more charges
A 32-year-old man convicted of stabbing ten people on a train has been charged with additional charges relating to the day before the assault. Anthony Williams, of no fixed address, had been charged with seven other offences, including two counts of attempted murder, as part of a larger probe, according to British Transport Police (BTP). Mr Williams has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder in connection with a mass shooting on a Doncaster to London King's Cross service on the evening of 1 November. BTP said the latest charges relate to incidents that occurred in Peterborough, Stevenage, and a train traveling between Hitchin and Biggleswade on October 31.
Mr Williams will appear in Peterborough Magistrates' Court later today, charged with the following:
On the 18:25 GMT LNER service on Sunday, a person brandishing a knife started stabbing people after it passed through Peterborough. It was diverted to Huntingdon due to an unexpected halt, which prompted a large emergency response. Our probe into the horrific incident at Huntingdon has also concentrated on other offences that were not reported to police or not investigated by our probe.
