Emmy Award-winning actor and voice artist Hank Azaria has unveiled his new project, Hank Azaria & The EZ Street Band, a tribute to Bruce Springsteen. The freshly formed ensemble is set to make its debut performance at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge on August 1, 2024. Azaria, known for his versatile vocal talents, will channel The Boss's iconic live performance energy.
Azaria's Distinguished Career
Before venturing into this musical endeavor, Azaria has had a prolific career in television and film. He is renowned for his extensive voice work on the animated classic "The Simpsons" since 1989, and for his roles in popular movies such as "The Birdcage," where he played the beloved character Agador Spartacus, and "Run Fatboy Run," where he portrayed Whit in David Schwimmer’s directorial debut in 2007.
Preparing for the Tribute
“I’ve never worked harder preparing for any role than I did in perfecting a singing vocal impression of Bruce,” said Azaria in a press release. The performance promises to be “packed with Springsteen classics and deep cuts, delivered with Azaria’s unique flair and the band’s top-notch musicianship.”
Supporting a Good Cause
The debut concert will support a noble cause, with all net proceeds going to the Four Through Nine Foundation. This foundation, founded by Azaria, is dedicated to social justice, education, and recovery initiatives. Azaria expressed his enthusiasm for combining his passion for voices with a charitable endeavor, saying, “I can’t think of a better way to spend my time and use my passion for voices than playing these songs for a crowd that loves them and lovingly tribute Bruce while raising money for folks who need it.”
