Hacking Fears As Outage Leaves Users Unable To Access Accounts

The outage appears to be global, with users impacted across the globe as users from countries including the US, Brazil, the UK and Australia took to X to express their concern, which is now trending on the platform with the hashtags  #facebookdown and #instagramdown. Many users feared that they were being hacked as a result of the outage, which has left people logged out of their accounts and unable to log back in.

Facebook has approximately 2 billion daily users, and Instagram has around 500 million.  While the Meta-owned platforms have faced individual outages in recent week, but this is the first time users have seen both social media platforms go down at the same time.
