Upton Summer Series 2024
The picturesque setting of Upton Country Park played host to a thrilling display of athleticism as 337 participants, spanning ages four to over 80, took part in the annual races. From the one-mile junior race to the challenging 3.5-mile senior race, competitors showcased their talent and determination on the scenic course.
Impressive Female Performances:
Hilliar of Poole AC emerged as the leading lady, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 20.58, just three seconds shy of the female course record. Her teammate, Hayley Martin, followed closely behind with a commendable time of 22.02, securing second place. Purbeck Runners' Jenny-Lee Marshall completed the podium with a time of 22.26. Poole AC further asserted their dominance by clinching the female team race title.
Strong Debut by Grose:
In the men's race, Poole AC's Grose made a remarkable debut, leading from start to finish and crossing the tape in an impressive time of 18.30. Grose's stellar performance came just two days after his participation in the Bannister 70th anniversary mile in Oxford, showcasing his exceptional endurance and skill. Fellow debutant Rob Arkell of Poole Runners claimed the second position with a time of 19.03, closely followed by teammate Dion Garner, who secured third place with a time of 19.06.
Poole Runners' Success Continues:
Last year's men's team series champions, Poole Runners, continued their winning streak by clinching first place in race one, setting the stage for an exciting series ahead. With five more events to follow, the competition promises to intensify as teams vie for supremacy on the challenging courses.

Race enthusiasts can mark their calendars for the upcoming event, as race two is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 29.
