‘A Huge Part’: She-Ra Set to Take Centre Stage in Potential Masters of the Universe Sequel
LOS ANGELES — The Princess of Power is getting ready to claim her birthright. Less than a month before He-Man makes his highly anticipated, multi-million-pound return to the silver screen, director Travis Knight has dropped a major teaser regarding the future of the franchise, confirming that She-Ra will lead the charge in a planned sequel.
Speaking to SFX magazine over the weekend, the Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings filmmaker addressed the long-standing question of whether Prince Adam's long-lost twin sister, Princess Adora, will feature in the upcoming cinematic reboot. While keeping tight-lipped about the imminent first film, Knight promised that the character is foundational to his long-term vision for the property.
“I can say very little about She-Ra,” Knight teased. “But for me, She-Ra has always been a big part of the Masters world and a big part of Adam's story. In the fullness of time, if we're lucky to tell more stories in this universe, She-Ra will play a huge part.”
The Cut Scenes and the Mystery
Knight’s carefully chosen words have ignited intense speculation that She-Ra may actually debut sooner than fans think, perhaps via a post-credits sting or a hidden cameo in the upcoming film, which arrives in UK cinemas on 5th June 2026.
The director hinted that the creative team held "many, many conversations" about the character during production, while simultaneously revealing that several massive sequences had to be stripped out of the final theatrical cut for time.
“There are giant scenes in the movie that aren't there any longer,” Knight confessed. “I am very proud of the movie, but there are definitely things that I love that we had to cut. Hopefully, they will get to see the light of day at some point.”
Amazon’s Grand Plan
The proactive talk of Masters of the Universe 2 underscores the immense confidence that Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films have invested in the reboot. After the live-action project famously languished in development hell for years, surviving aborted attempts by both Sony Pictures and Netflix, Amazon stepped in with a massive budget to turn Eternia into a cornerstone fantasy franchise.
The narrative blueprint for the first film focuses heavily on He-Man’s origins. A 10-year-old Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) is accidentally exiled to Earth, separating him from his magical Sword of Power. After 15 years of searching, he finally returns to his home planet of Eternia, only to find it entirely shattered under the tyrannical rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto).

The Lore of the Horde
For the uninitiated, She-Ra (Princess Adora) was originally introduced in the 1985 animated feature The Secret of the Sword before branching into her own iconic spin-off series. Kidnapped as an infant by the galactic conqueror Hordak, she was raised on the desolate world of Etheria as a brainwashed force commander before He-Man helped her break free, allowing her to claim the Sword of Protection.
By setting up a sequel centered around She-Ra, insiders suggest that Masters of the Universe 2 would likely pivot its focus away from Skeletor and toward Hordak’s formidable Evil Horde, offering a narrative scope that could comfortably bridge sci-fi world-building with a familial rescue arc.
The Verdict
Whether or not audiences get a fleeting glimpse of the Sword of Protection this June, Knight has made one thing abundantly clear: Amazon isn't looking for a one-off nostalgia trip. By formally locking She-Ra into the screenplay targets for a second chapter, the studio is signaling that the keys to Castle Grayskull are about to be shared by two of the most powerful heroes in the universe.
