Red Bull Re-Signs Isack Hadjar Alongside Max Verstappen for 2027

Red Bull has officially locked in Isack Hadjar for the 2027 Formula 1 season, keeping the 21-year-old Frenchman in the garage next to four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
The decision arrives right as Hadjar prepares to jump back into the car for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after sitting out the last three races with a broken wrist, which was a setback that he picked up while boxing during his summer training. Despite missing those events, he still holds eighth place in the Drivers' Championship, boosted by a podium finish at Monaco earlier this year.
Hadjar earned his spot on the main team at the start of this year following an impressive 2025 rookie run with Racing Bulls. So far, he has shown closer qualifying pace to Verstappen than any secondary driver at the squad since 2018, even beating his teammate's times in Australia, Japan, and Britain.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies called the contract extension "an easy decision", emphasizing how quickly the young driver adapted to the pressure of the main seat.
"Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season, which made extending his contract an easy decision," Mekies said. "From the very beginning, Isack immersed himself in the team, spending every minute at the factory with his engineers to develop the car, always eager to learn and improve."
Mekies added: "You could see from that first weekend in Melbourne that he handled the step up with remarkable composure and had earned his place in this seat. The period since his injury has been a difficult one for Isack, but this extension is a testament to how much we believe in him and we can’t wait to see him back out on track."
"We still have a lot we want to achieve this season, but it's a great feeling to know that the drivers, engineers and everyone back at the factory are all heading in the same direction, committed and together."
For his part, Hadjar shared his excitement about continuing his journey with the Milton Keynes-based crew.
"I am really excited to continue with Oracle Red Bull Racing," Hadjar said. "I came to this team eight months ago and immediately understood the scale and ambition of this organisation. There are so many talented people at the factory, and you’re aware of the privilege of driving for such an incredible team alongside a four-time World Champion like Max."
"From the moment I signed, I set out to dedicate myself to the team, and with the support of Laurent and everyone in Milton Keynes, I’ve been able to justify the faith they’ve had in me," he continued. "I’m constantly looking to listen, learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead."
With Verstappen already locked down through 2030 and Red Bull securing Hadjar, all four top F1 grid teams—Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull—have completely finalized their driver lineups for 2027.
