“Bloody Mary” Rises: Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Karl Urban Clash in Brutal First Trailer for ‘The Bluff’

SANTA CLARA, CA — Forget the "yo-ho-ho" of Disney’s high seas. Prime Video has officially introduced a darker, more visceral brand of piracy with the first trailer for The Bluff. Released during the Super Bowl LX festivities, the R-rated teaser showcases a grit-streaked Priyanka Chopra Jonas reclaiming her title as "Bloody Mary" to defend her family from a menacing Karl Urban.

The film, produced by the Russo Brothers (AGBO) and directed by Frank E. Flowers, is set to premiere globally on Prime Video on 25th February 2026.

A Mother’s Violent Past

Set in the late 19th-century Caribbean, the trailer introduces us to Ercell Bodden (Chopra Jonas), a woman who has successfully traded a life of high-seas crime for the quiet tranquility of the Cayman Islands. She is a wife to T.H. (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and a mother to their young son, but the peace is shattered when her former captain, Connor (Urban), arrives with a vengeful score to settle.

The footage quickly shifts from serene island life to a "shockingly violent" survival thriller. Chopra Jonas is seen utilizing everything from lethal swordsmanship to makeshift tactical traps, proving that while she may have buried her past, she hasn't forgotten how to kill.

“This only ends with the sand soaked in blood,” Ercell warns in a standout moment from the teaser.

The Russo Brothers' Midas Touch

The influence of producers Anthony and Joe Russo is evident in the trailer’s high-octane choreography. Much like their work on Extraction and Citadel, The Bluff prioritizes raw, close-quarters combat over stylized CGI.

Fans on social media have already dubbed Chopra Jonas an "absolute alpha" for her physical transformation. The actress reportedly underwent rigorous training for the role, waking up at 4:30 a.m. six days a week during filming in Australia to master the film's "clutter-breaking" fight sequences.

Redefining the Pirate Genre

Director Frank E. Flowers, who co-wrote the script with Joe Ballarini, noted that the film aims for a historical realism often missing from the genre. Instead of romanticized buccaneers, the film portrays pirates as desperate, vicious marauders who view escape from their ranks as a death-sentence offense.

The supporting cast adds significant weight to the production:

  • Temuera Morrison: Playing Lee, a Quartermaster with layered and complex loyalties.

  • Safia Oakley-Green: Portraying Ercell's sister-in-law, Elizabeth.

  • Vedanten Naidoo: As Isaac, the son at the heart of the conflict.

Streaming Countdown

Clocking in at a lean 101 minutes, The Bluff is positioning itself as a "must-watch" for action fans who appreciate emotional stakes as much as physical danger. With its stunning real-world locations—including the iconic Skull Cave—the film is expected to be one of the most visually impressive streaming releases of the year.

As the trailer concludes with a brutal face-off between Ercell and Connor’s crew, it’s clear that for "Bloody Mary," redemption can only be found through the blade.
