One critical and three injured after early morning shooting at Birmingham nightclub

morning shooting

Four people have been wounded in a shooting at a nightclub in Birmingham, and a man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to the Mango nightclub on Bristol Street at around 03:00 BST, where they found three men and a woman injured. One of the men is in a critical condition.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at about 09:30 and remains in custody. Three women in their 20s and 30s were also detained in a car on the M6 in Warwickshire on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident.

Police have cordoned off Bristol Street, one of the city centre’s main routes. The southbound carriageway from Pagoda Island to Bromsgrove Street is closed and is expected to remain shut for some time.

Chief Inspector Michael Clarke of West Midlands Police appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“This happened in a busy nightclub on one of Birmingham’s main roads, so it is vital that we hear from anyone who saw what happened or may have captured it on dashcam while driving past,” he said. “If you were in the club at the time and witnessed the incident or recorded any video from inside, we need to hear from you immediately.”
