Rapper Nicki Minaj joined US President Donald Trump on stage at a campaign rally in Port Huron, Michigan, encouraging voters to elect Republican candidates in key upcoming midterm races.
Arriving in Michigan alongside Trump aboard Air Force One while dressed in a gold Gucci suit, the "Anaconda" artist spoke to the crowd about her support for the president, framing the November 3rd midterm elections as a pivotal moment.
Addressing attendees at the Sunday evening event, Minaj praised the president's impact on the country:
"I am so honoured to be working with this president. He represents resilience."
"So many people were maybe giving up a little bit, maybe a little bit hopeless. And since he's come back, he's changed the energy of our country and given us a future to look forward to, a brighter future for us and our children."
Minaj also addressed social topics during her brief speech, stating:
"We don't want our children to be bombarded with sex changes, right? We don't want that for our children. We want people to leave the children alone. Leave them out of it."
Trump introduced the Grammy-nominated artist as the "queen of rap" and highlighted her presence throughout the event:
"I don't like being overshadowed, and this woman overshadows me, and I'm angry about it."
"She never looked more beautiful"
"She gets it. She's smart"
"You see why everybody likes Nicki. She is a very, very special person. She gets it."
Earlier in his remarks, Trump drew attention to the rapper while addressing the audience:
"By the way, I looked at a beautiful ass before. Nicki Minaj. That's hard to miss."
“I hope Nicki wasn't insulted, but we love Nicki."
The Port Huron rally formed part of the administration's broader push in Michigan, where Republican candidates Mike Rogers, who is running for US Senate, and John James, who is running for governor, are competing in tight races. Former President Barack Obama also recently campaigned in the state alongside Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
During the rally, Trump directed harsh words toward El-Sayed, calling him a "jihadist" who was "on the side of the terrorists" and alleging he would "invite jihadists" into the US. El-Sayed has repeatedly rejected accusations regarding his loyalty, describing the personal attacks as "shameful" attempts to distract voters.
Beyond state politics, Trump addressed foreign relations, predicting the US-Canada trade dispute over tariffs would be resolved "soon," while taking swipes at Norway by calling it a "s***house country" and stating Norwegian immigrants were not welcome "because I didn't get the Nobel Prize".
Following the event, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video of Minaj taken on Air Force One, playfully posting to X:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House press secretary! @NICKIMINAJ"
