‘A New Chapter’: Miley Cyrus Drops Surname and Announces 10th Studio Album Bass Persuades

LOS ANGELES — Pop superstar Miley Cyrus has announced a major artistic reinvention, adopting the mononym "Miley" alongside the reveal of her forthcoming 10th studio album, Bass Persuades.

The Grammy-winning artist confirmed the project will arrive on 18th September via Atlantic Records. The announcement marks her first full-length effort since 2025’s Something Beautiful and signals a distinct shift in both her aesthetic and artistic direction.

Alongside the album reveal, the singer shared a promotional clip featuring a gritty, electric guitar instrumental, showcasing a leather-hatted look that signals a raw, rock-infused tone for her latest era.

‘Music Takes Hold of Us’

Writing to fans on social media, the 33-year-old artist reflected on the deep emotional weight behind the record's title and themes.

"Music takes hold of us," she wrote in an Instagram statement. "We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me."

Speaking about the creative process in recent interviews, the singer described Bass Persuades as a multi-layered "love story" influenced by her personal life and long-term relationship with fiancé Maxx Morando. The project also explores themes of self-acceptance and emotional peace, expanding on ideas introduced across her recent studio releases.

Hollywood Bowl Live Return

To celebrate the release, Miley will make a high-profile return to the stage with a two-night headlining engagement at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on 16th and 18th October.

The shows will feature support from Brooklyn-based noise-rock band Model/Actriz, who also feature on the album's tracklist.

"The Hollywood Bowl is my favourite place to experience music and see my favourite artists," she shared. "I've sat in those seats many times, but I've never taken the stage."

The album announcement comes shortly after the loss of her godmother, country legend Dolly Parton. Cyrus previously noted that Parton had encouraged her to translate deep emotion into her songwriting, adding that she intends to honour her legacy through her new work.
