‘A Multiverse Showdown’: Disneyland Confirms Landmark ‘Avengers Infinity Defense’ Attraction Will Open in 2028
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disney has formally confirmed that Avengers Infinity Defense, its sprawling new E-ticket attraction, will officially open to the public at Disney California Adventure in 2028.
The announcement was unveiled by Walt Disney Imagineering alongside Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige during the Horizons showcase at D23, offering theme park aficionados their clearest look yet at the expansion slated to double the size of Avengers Campus.
The high-tech dark ride will recruit park guests to leap through the Marvel multiverse in a high-stakes battle against King Thanos, a formidable alternate-reality variant of the villain who successfully defeated the Avengers in his own timeline.
A Star-Studded MCU Ensemble
In one of the most ambitious voice-and-likeness assemblies in theme park history, a host of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) stars are returning to reprise their iconic superhero roles for the attraction.
The pre-mission briefing will feature Iman Vellani returning as Ms. Marvel to welcome riders as fresh recruits. From there, guests will board "world-jumping" vehicles engineered with Tony Stark's tech, Wakandan innovation, and Xandarian jump points to pursue King Thanos across iconic realms.
The ride roster includes:
-
Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark / Iron Man
-
Chris Hemsworth as Thor
-
Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America
-
Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton / Hawkeye
Riders will navigate immersive physical sets alongside expansive digital environments, plunging into high-octane battles through New York City, Asgard, and Wakanda.
Doubling the Campus Footprint
The 2028 debut of Avengers Infinity Defense serves as the anchor of a major Phase 2 expansion for Avengers Campus, which first opened its gates in June 2021.
Alongside Infinity Defense, Disney is currently constructing Stark Flight Lab, a second major attraction featuring flight simulator technology with Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) serving as flight instructors.
