Popular food critic Grace Dent has exited the Australian jungle of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! after just over a week in camp on medical grounds. The 50-year-old, who was among the first group of campmates to enter the show on November 19, faced many challenges in the jungle, including a Bushtucker trial where a cockroach found its way into her ear.
A spokesperson for the show confirmed Dent's departure, stating, "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike." However, specific details regarding her exit have not been disclosed by ITV.
Before joining the jungle, Dent expressed concerns about the camp diet, mentioning, "Everything is filling me with a real sense of dread. But I am especially dreading being really hungry because I tend to eat four or five posh meals out a week because I am a restaurant critic." Dent's struggle became apparent during a recent episode when she declared, "I've had enough. I've completely had enough. I just want to go home."
In her absence, it is rumoured that EastEnders actress Danielle Harold is set to participate in the upcoming Bushtucker trial, replacing Dent alongside fellow campmate Josie Gibson. However, this has not been confirmed by the show.
The show's current season has drawn a slightly lower audience than the previous year, with seven million viewers in the first week compared to nearly 12 million for the last season's launch.
