‘The Hailey Effect’: Gap to Restock Sold-Out $89 Hailey Bieber Denim Capsule After Frenzied Demand

NEW YORK — American retail giant Gap has officially confirmed plans to restock its viral, $89 (£66) limited-edition denim collaboration with model and Rhode founder Hailey Bieber, following a near-instant sell-out during its initial summer launch.

The highly anticipated rerun, officially dubbed The Hailey Jean—will drop globally online and across North American retail stores on Friday 2nd October 2026, offering shoppers a second chance to secure the 1990s-inspired capsules.

The partnership first debuted in July 2026 and vanished from stockists within minutes, sparking widespread viral commentary across TikTok and Instagram as thousands of empty-handed fans expressed frustration over digital queues.

A Nostalgic Tribute to 1990s Streetwear

Designed with Bieber’s signature oversized aesthetic in mind, the capsule leans heavily into archival Gap silhouettes, blending vintage denim washes with contemporary street-style fits.

Constructed from 100 per cent rigid indigo cotton denim, the collection features two core silhouettes: the Extra Baggy mid-rise jean and the Low-Rise Loose cut. Both styles are finished with subtle "1996" stitching detailing along the back pocket—a nod to Bieber’s birth year and a hallmark decade for classic Gap marketing campaigns.

"The Hailey Jean captures everything people love about classic denim, effortless, relaxed, and deeply personal," Gap stated ahead of the restock announcement. "Due to unprecedented demand, we are bringing back the complete collection for our global community."

Retail Rebound and Influencer Power

The sell-out success of the Bieber collaboration represents a major commercial victory for Gap as the heritage retailer continues its strategic pivot toward high-visibility cultural partnerships.

Under the leadership of chief executive Richard Dickson, the apparel chain has actively re-anchored its brand identity around high-profile celebrity co-designs, archival revivals, and viral social media marketing.

Retail analysts point to Bieber’s established status as an international tastemaker, whose beauty brand Rhode regularly generates massive waitlists, as a primary driver behind the rapid sell-out figures.

Preparing for the October Drop

With fashion commentators expecting a swift secondary sell-out when the restock opens on 2nd October, Gap has advised consumers to register accounts online in advance to streamline the checkout process.

The restock precedes Bieber’s broader autumn fashion commitments, as the multi-hyphenate continues to expand her commercial empire across skincare, apparel, and lifestyle branding.
