Gabby Logan pays tribute to her 'warrior' dad Terry Yorath

Gabby Logan has paid tribute to her father, Welsh football legend Terry Yorath, who had a kind-hearted and generous man who had awicked sense of humor. This week, the former Leeds United and Wales midfielder died at the age of 75 following a brief illness. Logan paid the tribute on Instagram, with several family snapshots from her dad's life and work. Yorath, a Welshman, captained and ruled Wales during a glittering career that also saw him become the first Welshman to play in a European Cup final in 1975.

On Wednesday night, Logan was hosting Match of the Day before abruptly leaving the program during the broadcast. Mark Chapman was brought to the rescue by Mark Chapagman, who said that his co-host had to deal with a

family emergency. Logan thanked people for sharing messages of love and care.
Our dad, a warrior on the football field, captaining club and country, is a kind-hearted and generous man off it," she said. Logan said she and her father spent time together the previous day while discussing their favorite meals to eat when he spent time in hospital.

Despite knowing he had a short amount of time after suffering from ill health, she said his death was a

shock. People from the football world shared their admiration on the blog. Former players, including Alan Shearer, Alex Scott, and Rio Ferdinand, who have all worked with Logan as pundits, sent support to the broadcaster via Instagram. Claudia Winkleman and Davina Mccall, two fellow presenters, also expressed their condolences, with the former stating that the award was
beautifully written. During a match against Lincoln City in may 1985, Logan also referred to the Valley Parade fire that killed 56 people and injured more than 250 others. She said the tragedy defined the second half of Yorath's life, and she was at Valley Parade at the time.

Logan credited her father with instilling a lifelong love of sports in her as she reflect on a career that has seen her participation in many international competitions such as World Cups, European Championships, and the Six Nations. She also thanked the NHS workers at St James' University Hospital in Leeds who cared for Yorath with

such compassion. With some heart emojis and the Welsh flag, she finished off the post by writing
I love you dad.
