‘Monochrome and Mayhem’: Final Spider-Noir Trailer Drops Ahead of Next Week’s Prime Video Premiere
NEW YORK — The web is about to unravel in 1930s Manhattan. Just seven days before Nicolas Cage officially brings his iconic web-slinger into the live-action arena, Amazon Prime Video has unleashed the stylish, hard-boiled final trailer for Spider-Noir (See both black & white and colour trailers below).
The highly anticipated eight-episode Marvel series is scheduled to debut on the MGM+ cable channel on Monday 25th May, before swinging onto Prime Video on Wednesday 27th May 2026. The final trailer leans aggressively into the gritty atmosphere of classic Hollywood crime dramas, promising a dark, mystery-fueled character piece that trades standard multiveral spectacle for street-level stakes.
The Hard-Boiled Hero
Reprising his wildly popular voice role from Sony's animated Spider-Verse films, the 62-year-old Oscar winner makes his live-action superhero television debut as Ben Reilly.
Far removed from the bright-eyed optimism of Peter Parker, Reilly is introduced as an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator operating in a Great Depression-era New York City scarred by systemic corruption and violence. The narrative follows the cynical detective as he is forced to confront a deeply personal tragedy and grapple with his hidden, past life as the metropolis’s one and only vigilante.
“In one week, B. Reilly Investigations is open for business,” Prime Video teased alongside the trailer drop. “This is the final trailer for Spider-Noir, arriving 27th May on Prime.”
The Dual-Format Gamble
The final trailer has also confirmed an unprecedented aesthetic gimmick that has the streaming industry talking. To fully preserve the comic book character's signature visual roots, Amazon will release each episode simultaneously in two distinct, selectable formats: "Authentic Black & White" and "True-Hue Full Colour."
The newly released footage showcases both styles, revealing stark, high-contrast shadows and pitch-black webbing in the monochrome version, alongside a desaturated, sepia-toned palette for the colour presentation.
Directed in its opening block by Emmy winner Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve), the show’s production values are being heavily guided by Spider-Verse masterminds Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel's The Punisher).

A Star-Studded Underworld
While the promotional materials focus heavily on Cage's brooding voiceover and practical, trench-coated stunt work, the series features an elite ensemble cast designed to anchor the narrative’s crime-thriller roots.
The trailer drops fleeting glimpses of Emmy winner Lamorne Morris (New Girl) playing a classic iteration of Daily Bugle journalist Robbie Robertson, alongside Li Jun Li as a glamorous nightclub singer, and Oscar nominee Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin), who is heavily tipped to play a ruthless, high-ranking New York mob boss.
The Verdict
Despite utilising the same character variant introduced in Into the Spider-Verse, showrunners have explicitly clarified that the series operates as a completely standalone story separate from the animated film continuity.
By grounding the character in a self-contained, 1930s gangster ecosystem, Spider-Noir looks to appeal to traditional comic enthusiasts and fans of dark, twilight-haunted urban thrillers alike. Next week, audiences will find out whether Cage's live-action gamble can successfully spin gold out of the shadows.
