‘Two Margaritas’: Eminem’s Ex-Wife Kim Scott Pleads No Contest After Alleged Hit-and-Run

DETROITKimberley Anne Scott, the former wife of rap icon Eminem, has entered a no-contest plea in a Michigan court following a drink-driving incident that reportedly saw her crash into a parked vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Appearing at the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore on Monday 11th May, the 51-year-old, known to fans as Kim Mathers, addressed charges of operating a vehicle while impaired and failing to stop after a collision. The plea marks a swift resolution to a legal saga that began in February 2026 and allegedly involved several teenagers as passengers.

The ‘Chili’s’ Incident

The charges stem from an evening on 16th February 2026 in Chesterfield Township. According to police reports, officers responded to a 911 call from a resident who witnessed a white Range Rover smash into their parked Dodge Ram with enough force to propel the truck 50 feet.

The Range Rover reportedly fled the scene, but officers tracked it to a nearby driveway, where they found the vehicle with "smashed headlights" and a "caved-in garage door." When confronted by police, Scott allegedly admitted she had been driving and had consumed “two margaritas at Chili’s” before getting behind the wheel.

“I know what this is about,” Scott reportedly told officers. Bodycam footage released earlier this year showed the defendant appearing "confused" and "lethargic," with officers noting a "strong odor of intoxicants" on her breath.

The ‘Family Trip’ Context

The case has drawn significant public scrutiny due to reports that Scott was not alone at the time of the initial collision. Authorities allege she was returning home from a shopping trip with her teenage son, Parker, and three of his friends.

While no one was seriously injured, the presence of minors has been highlighted by Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido as an aggravating factor in the community's concern.

Kim Scott – Legal Timeline 2026

Date Event Key Detail
16th Feb 2026 The Collision Hits parked car; then crashes into her own garage.
18th Feb 2026 Arrest Reported Charged with DUI and Hit-and-Run.
11th May 2026 No-Contest Plea Admits responsibility without a formal guilty plea.
17th June 2026 Sentencing Faces up to 93 days in Macomb County jail.

A History of Struggle

This latest legal hurdle is not Scott’s first encounter with the Michigan court system. In 2017, she was sentenced to one year of probation following a single-car crash in which she admitted to driving under the influence in an alleged suicide attempt.

Despite her previous struggles, Scott had told reporters in 2023 that she was sober following a 45-day stint in rehabilitation. Her attorney, Michael Smith, maintained on Monday that she is a "good person" and a "beautiful human being" facing an unfortunate lapse.

The Verdict

By pleading "no contest," Scott accepts the legal consequences of the charges without technically admitting guilt, though the court treats the plea as a conviction for sentencing purposes. She now faces a maximum of 93 days in jail and significant fines.

Eminem, who shared a famously volatile relationship with Scott through two marriages (1999–2001 and 2006), has not publicly commented on the arrest. The former couple recently celebrated becoming grandparents after their daughter, Hailie Jade, welcomed her first child.

Sentencing is scheduled for 17th June 2026.
