Edinburgh Airport Grounds All Flights Due To IT Failure

Edinburgh Airport Grounds All Flights Due To IT Failure

Edinburgh Airport has ground to a halt this morning after a major IT failure hit its air-traffic control provider, forcing all flights to be paused. The airport confirmed the shutdown in a statement saying: "No flights are currently operating from Edinburgh Airport" and added that "Teams are working on the issue and will resolve as soon as possible."

The disruption began around 9:29am, with officials warning there is no clear timeframe for when operations will resume. Passengers were asked to check directly with their airlines for updates.

The airport stressed the fault is local to Edinburgh Airport, and is not part of a wider UK air-traffic problem. Live departure and arrival boards have since shown a growing list of cancellations and diversions as the outage continues.

Edinburgh Trams also alerted travellers on social media, posting: "If you're travelling with us to @EDI_Airport this morning, please be aware that flights are not currently operating."

With around 43,000 people passing through the airport on a typical day, the shutdown has caused widespread disruption at Scotland’s busiest travel hub. For now, passengers can only wait for the green light to return.
