Consultants strike incoming in the UK, starts today
The entire strike will have a huge on the whole country, including the way how NHS will function till this week's Sunday.
Consultant doctors and hospital-based dentists will strike from 7am on Thursday (today) until 7am on Saturday.
Professor Sir Stephen Powis, NHS national medical director, mentioned that consultants will only provide staffing levels to cover emergency care. In other words, NHS will experience two ‘Christmas Day service’ days in a row, so the whole communication with NHS will be affected.
According to NHS' main site, "The action by consultants follows on from the longest period of industrial action in NHS history by junior doctors (five consecutive days), which started last Thursday and ended on Tuesday morning."
"Data is yet to be published, but it is expected that the latest industrial action by junior doctors led to tens of thousands of appointments being postponed across five days, with an even bigger impact expected from the consultants’ strike."
The strikers, just like the workers from other groups and industries, will fight for change in their pay rise.
