Cat Travels 500 Miles Back Home in Amazon Box
A big Amazon return package and a little curiosity led a cat from Lehi, Utah, to go on an amazing 500-mile journey lately.
Lost and Found: An unsure week
Owner Carrie Clark reported her cherished cat stolen on April 10. Galena remained gone even after friends and neighbours searched for her for a week. Galena's trip was just getting started; Clark had no idea.
Surprisingly Boxy: Utah to California
Clark's husband put out a big Amazon return box with work boots the same day Galena vanished. They had no idea Galena had crept inside the box before it was closed.
The box went more than 500 miles to a Riverside, California, Amazon warehouse. That was where the stowaway cat was found by the lovely Amazon employee, Brandy Hunter.
Back Together and Purring: A Contented Resolution
Self-described "crazy cat lady," Hunter brought Galena home for the evening and quickly drove her to the veterinarian the next day. Galena's microchip allowed the vet to get in touch with Clark, who was at first unwilling.
Joyful by the news, Clark and her husband took a plane to California the next day to see their daring cat again. In a touching moment, the reconnection saw Clark describe Galena's instant relief upon being embraced once again.
This amazing tale emphasises both the need for microchipping pets and the generosity of complete strangers. Even when a cat chooses to take a boxy vacation across the nation, incredible things can happen, as Galena's unplanned trip provides a reminder.
