Boy, 12, dies after fall from play park apparatus
A 12-year-old boy has died after falling from play equipment at a park in Cheshire.
Emergency services were called to Wharton Recreation Ground, off Ledward Street in Winsford, shortly after 18:00 BST on Friday. Despite efforts to save him, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers, Cheshire Police confirmed.
Det Sgt John Rhodes said:
“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the boy who tragically died. We are urging anyone who may have been in or around the Wharton Recreation Ground at the time and noticed anything that may assist our enquiries to please come forward.
“I would also ask the public not to engage in speculation, particularly on social media, as this is an ongoing investigation.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
