B2K and Pretty Ricky Set for 'VERZUZ' Event
LONDON — The ultimate noughties nostalgia trip has officially been locked in. Following weeks of online teases and speculative fan debates, it has been confirmed that American R&B boy bands B2K and Pretty Ricky are gearing up to face off in the next highly anticipated installment of Verzuz.
Organisers have officially set the stage for the musical bout, which will broadcast globally via Apple Music, Complex, and official Verzuz channels on Thursday 25th June 2026, at 6:30 PM PDT (2:30 AM BST on Friday 26th June for UK fans).
Billed as a ultimate celebration for the "You Got Served generation", the event will see both legendary groups go hit-for-hit over a traditional 20-round format, digging deep into their respective archives of platinum singles and culture-piercing slow jams.
The Contenders: Mainstream Anthems vs Bedroom Bangers
The announcement has instantly divided millennials across the internet, igniting fierce debates over who possesses the superior catalog.
B2K, who dominated the early 2000s teen pop and R&B landscape, carry substantial commercial weight. Fronted by Omarion alongside members Lil' Fizz, J-Boog, and Raz-B, the group's arsenal features heavy-hitting floor-fillers such as the Billboard chart-topper "Bump, Bump, Bump" (featuring P. Diddy), "Uh Huh", and "Girlfriend". They also famously anchored the soundtrack and starred in the iconic 2004 dance film You Got Served.
In the opposite corner stands Miami’s own Pretty Ricky. Blending smooth R&B melodies with distinct hip-hop edge. The group—consisting of brothers Spectacular, Baby Blue, Slick 'Em, and frontman Pleasure P, became staples of urban radio. Fans are expecting them to deploy major club and bedroom anthems like "Grind With Me", "Your Body", and "On the Hotline".
| Group | Signature Style | Key Anthems to Watch For |
| B2K | Mainstream pop-R&B, slick choreography, global teen appeal | "Bump, Bump, Bump", "Uh Huh", "Girlfriend", "Gots Ta Be" |
| Pretty Ricky | Explicit bedroom jams, hip-hop fusion, high-energy club anthems | "Grind With Me", "Your Body", "On the Hotline", "Love Like Honey" |
A Battle Years in the Making
Rumours of the clash first exploded on social media when members of B2K shared a playful text thread debating which group they should theoretically challenge. The conversation quickly caught the eye of the official Verzuz media accounts, which reshared the exchange—a move fans immediately deduced was a coordinated promotional setup.
To further whet appetites, Apple Music host Lowkey has already curated an official "Verzuz Cheat Sheet" preview playlist, which went live alongside the announcement.
The excitement has also caught the attention of rap icon Bow Wow. Following last month’s hostless Verzuz between Rick Ross and French Montana, Bow Wow threw his hat into the ring to serve as the master of ceremonies. Jokingly referring to himself on social media as the "Dana White" of the upcoming R&B showdown, Bow Wow is deemed a natural fit by many, having shared the stage with both groups on the wildly successful US Millennium Tour.
While Verzuz, originally created by music titans Timbaland and Swizz Beatz during the pandemic has evolved, this upcoming matchup proves that the hunger for nostalgic R&B remains incredibly potent. Whether B2K’s mainstream star power can outmanoeuvre Pretty Ricky’s raw club energy remains to be seen, but fans are guaranteed a spectacular trip down memory lane.
