‘I Witnessed So Much’: Actress Dafne Keen Reveals She Was Offered Cocaine at Hollywood Wrap Parties Aged 11
LOS ANGELES — British-Spanish actress Dafne Keen has spoken candidly about the dark side of growing up in the film industry, disclosing that she was repeatedly offered cocaine at industry wrap parties when she was just 11, 12, and 13 years old.
The 21-year-old star, who shot to global prominence as the mutant clone Laura opposite Hugh Jackman in 2017's blockbuster Logan, made the shocking revelations during an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast.
Reflecting on her early introduction to Hollywood's adult party circuit, Keen explained that early exposure to substance abuse completely inoculated her against peer pressure as she entered her teens.
Early Exposure in Hollywood
Keen, who began her professional acting career as a child before later leading the BBC/HBO fantasy adaptation His Dark Materials, stated that witnessing the realities of unchecked studio celebrations left her with zero interest in hard drugs or heavy drinking.
"I was getting offered coke at wrap parties. Like, tiny. Like 11, 12, 13," Keen told host Michael Rosenbaum. "So I saw what that was, so I was like, 'I don't really have any interest in that.' I was saying no, fortunately. I think as a child actor I witnessed so much of that as a child that I just had no interest."
The actress added that she remains intensely protective of her boundaries today, noting that she has never experienced a hangover because she strictly avoids excess.
To fend off social pressure during her teenage years, Keen admitted she would often resort to harmless deception rather than argue with peers.
"I did used to lie as a teenager so that I wouldn't get peer pressured," she recalled. 'I was like, "Oh my God, no. I'm already so high."' Dead sober. Like, the goodest goody-two-shoes ever."
Praising Hugh Jackman’s Protection on Logan
While Keen’s revelations underscore the precarious environments young performers can face in the entertainment business, she was quick to contrast those experiences with the strict protective measures enforced by her co-star Hugh Jackman while making Logan.
Keen credited the Australian actor with acting as a vital parental figure on set, shielding her from the logistical pressures and high-stress studio environment surrounding the R-rated Marvel production.
"[Hugh] made sure that no one was abusing my hours, that I was having fun on set, that I wasn't aware of any tensions that would've been happening behind the scenes," Keen said. "He was so incredibly protective and amazing. He's the best number one you could ever wish for."
Industry Safety Conversations
Keen’s comments have already reignited wider discussions across entertainment trade circles regarding the welfare, safeguarding, and supervision of underage performers at industry events and after-parties.
Representatives for major talent agencies and guilds have faced renewed calls to enforce stricter compliance guidelines regarding minor access to post-production celebrations.
