Trump to Attend US Open Final in First Visit Since 2015

President Donald Trump will attend Sunday’s US Open men’s final in New York, marking his first appearance at the tournament since 2015. The 79-year-old, who was re-elected in 2024, hasn’t returned to Flushing Meadows since taking office in 2016. A White House official confirmed the visit, though the USTA hasn’t publicly commented.

Trump, who grew up in Queens near the tournament site, had previously been a regular at the event and even held a private suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium before giving it up when he first became president. The final, set for 2 p.m. ET, will feature one of either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz facing Jannik Sinner or Felix Auger-Aliassime.

This visit is part of Trump’s recent sports-heavy schedule. He’s also expected at Yankee Stadium on September 11th and has confirmed plans to attend the Ryder Cup at Bethpage later this month. Back in February, he became the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl, and has since made appearances at major UFC and FIFA events.
