Royal Mint's Millennium Falcon Coin Soars into Star Wars Collectibles Universe

Millennium Falcon figure on rocks

The Royal Mint is flying into the future with the release of their latest collectible coin featuring the Millennium Falcon. The new 50p coin features the iconic silhouette of the fictional starship and the Rebel Alliance Starbird symbol and is set to be joined by more coins featuring Star Wars vehicles later this year.

Star Wars vehicle coins added to Royal Mint collection

The new series of coins follows in the success of the original series of Star Wars coins produced last year to celebrate the Return of the Jedi’s 40th anniversary. The coins featured some of the most famous characters from the series including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca.

Rebecca Morgan, representing the Royal Mint, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "We are excited to enthuse new and existing coin collectors across the world and capture the imaginations of Star Wars' thriving fan base."

Released on Monday 18th March, prices of the Millennium Falcon coin vary, with the standard coin costing £12 and prices increasing up to £2770 for the 1oz Gold Proof edition. Other coins releasing this year will feature the TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and Death Star II.

Star Wars bullion bars to be released for Star Wars Day 2024

Star Wars collectors will also be able to purchase bullion bars in gold and silver, with the first bar set to feature Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo. The bars are not yet available for purchase, but are expected to be launched in time for Star Wars Day on May 4th with pricing based on live precious metal prices.

Andrew Dickey, director of precious metals at the Royal Mint, highlighted the significance of the venture, remarking, "The Royal Mint’s launch of the Star Wars bullion bars is particularly exciting as iconic characters of the Skywalker Saga have inspired designs that feature on bullion bars for the very first time."

The Millennium Falcon coin is available for purchase on the Royal Mint's website at 9 am on Monday, March 18, with options for customers to secure the entire set of coins that will be sent out when they are released.
