Peaky Blinders Film Confirmed By Netflix
It has been confirmed that a Peaky Blinders film is coming to Netflix, with Cillian Murphy returning as Tommy Shelby. The streaming giant confirmed the news with a photo of the script on social media captioned:
Tommy Shelby returns. A Peaky Blinders Film starring Cillian Murphy is coming to Netflix.
“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
The original series, which aired from 2013 to 2022, followed the Shelby family's rise in post-World War I Birmingham. Creator Steven Knight promises the film will be "an explosive chapter" and "full-on Peaky Blinders at war." Production is set to begin in Birmingham in September, with the storyline taking the family into the Second World War.
Murphy, who recently won an Oscar for his role in Oppenheimer, shared his enthusiasm for returning to his iconic role. "This is one for the fans," he said, looking forward to bringing the Shelby family back to life on screen.
