New Epstein Emails Deepen Questions Around Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Ties to Sex Offender
New emails from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate are raising new doubts about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s version of events surrounding his friendship with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. The correspondence shows that, months after he claimed to have cut ties with the disgraced financier, Andrew was still in direct contact with both.
In one message from March 2011, the former prince wrote to Epstein and Maxwell: “What’s all this? I don’t know anything about this! You must SAY so please. This has NOTHING to do with me. I can’t take any more of this.” The exchange came after he was sent questions from a journalist about allegations being investigated by the Mail on Sunday in 2011.
Another email from the same period shows Epstein joking about the claims, saying: “Im not sure how to respond, the only person she didn’t have sex with was Elvis.” Andrew’s reply followed soon after: “Please make sure that every statement or legal letter states clearly that I am NOT involved and that I knew and know NOTHING about any of these allegations. I can’t take any more of this my end.”
The newly public files also include Epstein’s messages to journalists defending Andrew and attacking his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was forced to have sex with Andrew three times as a teenager. In one email, Epstein wrote: “Yes she was on my plane, and yes, she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.”
That line appears to confirm the authenticity of the now-infamous photograph showing the then prince with his arm around Giuffre’s waist at Maxwell’s London home in 2001 — an image Andrew has long questioned the authenticity of. In his 2019 Newsnight interview, he said: “I have absolutely no memory of that photograph ever being taken... you can’t prove whether or not that photograph is faked or not.”
Giuffre, who later moved to Australia and changed her surname from Roberts, repeated her allegations in her memoir released earlier this year. She took her own life months later.
The emails form part of thousands of documents released by the US House Oversight Committee this week. They also contain references to Donald Trump, Lord Mandelson, and other high-profile figures, as politicians on both sides of the US Congress push to make all Epstein-related files public.
Epstein’s messages show he kept in touch with numerous powerful individuals until his death in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. Maxwell, convicted in 2022, is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Andrew, who settled a civil case with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability, was stripped of his royal titles earlier this month following renewed scrutiny from her memoir and the newly unsealed documents. He continues to deny all allegations.
