Melania Trump Threatens $1B Lawsuit Over Epstein Claims by Hunter Biden
First Lady Melania Trump is threatening legal action against Hunter Biden, demanding a retraction and apology over claims he made in a recent interview that link her to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In the interview with journalist Andrew Callaghan, Biden alleged that Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump, stating, "Epstein introduced Melania to Trump. The connections are, like, so wide and deep." Melania’s legal team has called the comments “false, defamatory, and lewd,” warning that failure to retract could lead to a lawsuit seeking over $1 billion in damages.
According to a formal letter sent to Biden’s lawyer, Melania Trump’s attorneys argue the statements caused "overwhelming financial and reputational harm" and accuse Biden of relying on a retracted article by journalist Michael Wolff. The article, which once appeared on The Daily Beast, was later removed with the outlet apologizing for “any confusion or misunderstanding” following a cease-and-desist letter from Melania’s team. Her lawyer, Alejandro Brito, emphasized that Biden’s remarks were meant to “deliberately denigrate” the first lady and were based on unreliable sources.
Sources close to the matter say Hunter Biden has not complied with the August 7th deadline to respond or comply. Melania’s spokesperson, Nick Clemens, said "First Lady Melania Trump's attorneys are actively ensuring immediate retractions and apologies by those who spread malicious, defamatory falsehoods."
