McLaren Secures Oscar Piastri with Multi-Year Contract Extension

McLaren has announced a multi-year contract extension with Oscar Piastri, ensuring the 23-year-old Australian will remain with the team “for the long term.” Piastri, who joined McLaren in 2023, quickly proved his talent by securing multiple podiums and winning two Grands Prix in 2024. His performances helped McLaren clinch their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998, making him a key part of the team’s success.

“It’s a great feeling knowing that I’m part of McLaren’s long-term vision,” Piastri said. “The journey we’ve gone on over the past two seasons to help return McLaren to the very top of the sport has been incredible.” McLaren CEO Zak Brown praised Piastri’s “work ethic and cultural fit,” calling the contract extension a “no-brainer.” Team Principal Andrea Stella echoed these sentiments, stating that Piastri’s talent and determination make him an essential part of McLaren’s championship ambitions.

The exact length of Piastri’s new contract hasn’t been disclosed, but with Lando Norris also committed to the team, McLaren has locked in its driver lineup for the foreseeable future. The team has also secured long-term contracts for key leadership figures, reinforcing their stability as they aim for more championship success.
