Man Dead And Woman In Hospital After London Park Shooting
A man in his 40s has died and a woman of the same age is in hospital after a shooting in Clissold Park, Hackney. Emergency services were called to the scene around 7pm on Wednesday. Both victims had gunshot wounds; the man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the woman remains under medical care. Her condition has not yet been confirmed.
Detective Superintendent Oliver Richter said: “We are in the early stages of the investigation, but we believe the man and woman are known to one another. At this time, we are treating it as an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.” He described the shooting as “deeply distressing” for the community, and said officers are working quickly to understand what happened.
A firearm has been recovered, and Clissold Park remains closed while forensic teams investigate. Hackney Council is supporting police efforts and urges locals to avoid the area. Police presence in the neighbourhood has been increased as officers try to locate the victims’ next of kin.
