LIV Golf has secured a broadcast deal with ITV, bringing live, free-to-air coverage of its 2025 season to UK viewers. This is the first time since the league’s launch in 2022 that its tournaments will be available on traditional television in the UK, after previously being limited to online platforms.
The coverage will begin with the second round of the season-opening event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and will include 41 rounds across 14 tournaments. ITVX will serve as the primary streaming platform, while select events will air on ITV1 and ITV4. A weekly highlights show on ITV4 will ensure fans stay updated on all the action.
The deal with ITV is a breakthrough moment for LIV Golf in the UK, where top golf events, including the PGA Tour and the four major championships, have been behind paid subscription services like Sky Sports for nearly a decade. The move to ITV is expected to bring more exposure to the breakaway league, which has recruited top players like Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.
“This is an exciting time for LIV Golf as we look ahead to the innovative 2025 season," said Niall Sloane, Director of ITV Sport. "This partnership delivers free-to-air coverage for fans in the UK and we are delighted to welcome LIV Golf to ITV Sport."
Ron Wechsler, LIV Golf’s Senior Vice President of Broadcast Partnerships and Programming Strategy, called the partnership a "major milestone" in the league's efforts to expand its global reach. “With a premier sports broadcaster like ITV, we can ensure that more fans than ever will be able to access the excitement of the LIV Golf experience,” he added.
LIV Golf has positioned itself as the sport’s first truly global league, with tournaments in locations such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico City, and Washington, D.C. The league features a unique format with 54-hole tournaments, shotgun starts, and both individual and team-based competitions. The season will conclude with a Team Championship finale in Michigan in August.
The announcement of LIV’s ITV deal coincides with a decision by the United States Golf Association (USGA) to grant automatic U.S. Open exemptions to the highest-ranked LIV players not already qualified. This move signals a shift in the ongoing divide between LIV Golf and traditional golf tours.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the PGA Tour has confirmed that it is "closer to a deal" with LIV Golf following intervention from former U.S. President Donald Trump. “We asked the President to get involved for the good of the game, the good of the country, and for all the countries involved,” the PGA Tour said in a statement.
With this new partnership, UK golf fans will have easier access to LIV Golf than ever before, as the league continues to challenge the status quo and push for a bigger presence on the world stage.
