John Krasinski Named PEOPLE's 'Sexiest Man Alive' for 2024
John Krasinski, known to fans for his iconic role as Jim Halpert on The Office and his action-packed portrayal of Jack Ryan, has been crowned PEOPLE’s "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2024.
The 45-year-old actor and filmmaker admitted that the announcement took him by surprise, jokingly saying it caused him to “blackout” for a moment. “I thought maybe I was being punked,” Krasinski told the magazine. “That’s not how I wake up, thinking, ‘Is today the day I’ll be named Sexiest Man Alive?’ But you guys did it!”
Krasinski lives in Brooklyn with his wife of 14 years, Emily Blunt, and their two daughters, Hazel (10) and Violet (8). Blunt, who shares a playful relationship with her husband, was thrilled by the news. She even joked that she might wallpaper their entire home with the cover photo. “My kids will love that,” Krasinski joked, “it won’t be weird at all.”
Though he’s embraced the unexpected honour, Krasinski doesn’t expect it to change much in his daily life—if anything, it might mean he’ll be doing more household chores. “After this comes out,” he joked, “Emily’s probably going to say, ‘Alright, that means you really need to earn it around the house.’”
The actor’s journey to becoming a household name wasn’t always straightforward. From his breakout role in The Office to transforming himself into an action star for Jack Ryan and 13 Hours, Krasinski has proven his versatility. However, it was the 2018 thriller A Quiet Place, which he co-wrote, directed, and starred in alongside Blunt, that truly solidified his status as a Hollywood heavyweight. Reflecting on the film, he said it strengthened their bond. “I’ve never loved my wife more than after making that movie.”
Despite his success, Krasinski remains focused on his family. “When you’re married to someone, you’re constantly learning, changing, and evolving,” he shared. “I’m so lucky to go through all that with her.” The couple’s relationship, marked by mutual support and collaboration, has been a source of inspiration for fans.
As Krasinski takes over the title from last year’s winner, Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, he continues to stay busy. He’s set to appear alongside Natalie Portman in the upcoming action heist film Fountain of Youth. For now, though, the actor is soaking in the joy of his latest accolade, supported by his ever-excited family.
