Jody Egginton Steps Down as Technical Director at Racing Bulls
Jody Egginton, Racing Bulls' Technical Director, will be leaving the team after over a decade of contributions to its success. Starting April 1st, Egginton will take on the role of Engineering Director at Red Bull Advanced Technologies, overseeing several exciting projects within the company. Egginton's decision comes after almost 20 years focusing solely on Formula 1, a career that saw him rise through the ranks at Toro Rosso, now Racing Bulls, from Head of Vehicle Performance in 2014 to Technical Director in 2019.
Egginton’s departure from Racing Bulls marks a significant change for the team, which will now see the responsibilities of his role split between Chief Technical Officer Tim Goss and Deputy Technical Directors Guillaume Cattelani and Andrea Landi. Goss, who joined the team earlier this year, is a former McLaren Technical Director. Egginton reflected on his time with Racing Bulls, stating, “Being part of this team for over 10 years has been a fantastic experience for me, providing some very memorable moments."
Team Principal Laurent Mekies praised Egginton’s contribution, saying, “As our long-serving Technical Director, he has been instrumental in driving innovation and fostering team growth. I want to thank Jody for his expertise and the important contribution he has made to the team and the company’s upward trajectory.”
This move comes just days after Adrian Newey’s high-profile shift to Aston Martin, leaving Red Bull Racing and Advanced Technologies with key changes in their engineering leadership. With Red Bull’s partnership with Honda ending in 2023, the team will now focus on developing its own engine in collaboration with Ford for the 2026 F1 season—a project described by Red Bull Racing’s Christian Horner as the “biggest challenge” the team has ever faced.
Egginton’s transition to Red Bull Advanced Technologies is a fresh challenge that will see him take on broader responsibilities, as he joins a team with a variety of groundbreaking projects in the works.
