Chris Brown Pleads Not Guilty in London Nightclub Assault Case

Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm with intent stemming from an alleged bottle attack at Tape nightclub in London back in February 2023. The 36-year-old R&B star appeared at Southwark Crown Court wearing a navy three-piece suit, confirming his name and stating simply, "Not guilty, ma'am." Alongside him, fellow American and rapper Omololu Akinlolu, known as Hoody Baby, also denied the charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

The incident reportedly involved music producer Abraham Diaw, who prosecutors say was struck several times with a tequila bottle before being chased, punched, and kicked. Brown faces additional charges of assault and possession of an offensive weapon, which he'll respond to in court this July. If convicted, he could face up to 16 years in prison.

Despite his legal troubles, Brown continues his Breezy Bowl XX world tour. He was arrested last month at a Manchester hotel but released after paying a £5 million bond. With his passport temporarily surrendered to authorities, special arrangements allow him to perform internationally, including two massive shows at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
