Amy Dowden Rushed to Hospital After Collapsing on Set of Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was hospitalised after collapsing backstage during Saturday night’s show. The dancer began feeling unwell at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, prompting an ambulance call around 9 PM BST.

Thankfully, Dowden's spokesperson later confirmed that the ambulance "was called as a precaution" and that she was now "feeling much better."

Due to the unforeseen health issue, Dowden did not appear in the results show on Sunday evening, as she had already been taken to the hospital before filming began. In a statement, Dowden expressed her gratitude to the Strictly family for their concern and requested privacy regarding her health matters.

Dowden, who is 34 years old, has been open about her health struggles, including her battle with breast cancer and Crohn's disease. She was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May 2023 after discovering a lump just before her honeymoon. Following treatment, she celebrated returning to the show in 2024, having missed the previous series.

Despite the challenges, Dowden has been relishing her comeback. She was overjoyed when her doctor informed her there was no evidence of disease.

"Words I dreamed of," she wrote on Instagram, calling it her "biggest accomplishment yet."

However, she also noted that she won't receive an all-clear for five years and will need ongoing treatment.

This season, Dowden has been paired with JLS singer JB Gill, and the duo made an impressive start, topping the judges’ leaderboard with 31 points for their waltz to "When I Need You" by Leo Sayer.
