Adele Bids Emotional Farewell to Las Vegas Residency: "I Will Miss You Terribly"
Adele has officially wrapped up her Las Vegas residency, bringing her emotional Weekends with Adele shows at Caesars Palace to a close after 100 performances. The 36-year-old singer’s final concert on Saturday night left her visibly moved as she bid farewell to her fans, who packed the 4,000-seat Colosseum theatre. Videos from the night show Adele tearing up as she told the audience, "It’s been wonderful and I will miss it terribly, and I will miss you terribly."
The residency, which began in November 2022, became one of the hottest tickets on The Strip, with Adele performing every Friday and Saturday night. Though the shows were a massive success, the experience took a toll on the singer, who admitted earlier this year that she would be taking a break from music after the residency. "I don’t know when I next want to perform again," she said during her final concert.
Throughout the residency, Adele was known for her heartfelt moments with fans, including one where she defended a fan who was asked to sit down during one of her performances. Another emotional highlight came when Celine Dion attended one of Adele's concerts, leading to a tearful embrace between the two vocal icons. "It was just such a full-circle moment for me," Adele said, reflecting on the significance of Dion’s presence. The Colosseum, where Adele performed, was originally built for Dion's own Las Vegas residency, making their connection even more poignant.
Adele revealed that the reason she chose to do a residency rather than a global tour was to maintain a sense of normalcy for her son, Angelo, who is 11 years old. "I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal," she explained, adding that she was looking forward to spending more time with him. She also thanked her partner, Rich Paul, for being a supportive presence throughout the journey.
As she closed this chapter, Adele reflected on her decision to take a "big break" from music. I just need a rest and I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now" she told fans earlier this year. She has also expressed a desire to explore other creative ventures, including pursuing an English Literature degree, which she hopes to start in 2025.
Adele’s residency, which drew countless star-studded audiences, will go down in Vegas history as one of the most emotional and unforgettable performances. Fans and critics alike were moved by the intimacy of the shows, as Adele’s vulnerability and connection with her audience were front and center. Now, as she steps away from the stage for a well-earned break, fans can only wait to see what’s next for the artist.
