Umesh Perera, AYOZAT CEO commented: -
“This is an exciting production for AYOZAT, and the first step on the journey for AYOZAT to bring more Greyhound racing to free-to-air television and the AYOZAT Media Network.
The SportyStuffTV experience taught us that the greyhound audience rightly demands the highest production standards with high-res pictures of the live action, wrapped in a fully produced programme format that includes the best editorial content including pre-race features, interviews, tipping, and post-race analysis.
AYOZAT is committed to meeting those objectives in putting the 2024 English Greyhound Derby on AYOZAT’s pay-for-view platform and the final on free-to-air TV on SKY 186”.
Kevan Moretti, AYOZAT Chairman went on to state: -
“I know many will be dismayed that the early rounds, quarter-final, and semi-final will be on a pay-for-view basis on AYOZAT PPV, but with the time and funding available we need to ask both viewers and sponsors to help contribute.
Everyone should win out of this project. The Derby final is back on free-to-air TV; fans and enthusiasts can follow the action throughout the entire competition; sponsors get brand association and advertising in return for their funding contributions, hopefully in turn receiving deserved stakes and support from viewing punters.
I am delighted the roll call of supporting bookmakers includes BetGoodwin, our lead sponsor together with StarSports, AKBets, Fitzdares and William Hill.”
Julian Head owner of BetGoodwin commented.
“'When we heard RP Greyhound TV was coming off air, we were very disappointed. We love our dog racing here at BetGoodwin and have many customers on the phone and online who love to have a punt on their favourite sport while watching the races live on TV.
We jumped at the chance when the opportunity arose to be the lead sponsor on the exciting new channel. Currently we sponsor Towcester and Suffolk Downs and we have even bought a dog with the Boothby's: 'SavannaBetGoodwin' to hopefully run in this fantastic competition!
Greyhound racing is a great traditional sport that is loved by many, and we will always try and give the game the support it deserves."
Ben Keith owner of Starsports commented: -
“Our sport and community need daily coverage to welcome newcomers and retain interest for the already hooked. We must all support AYOZAT’s efforts and join together to do so.
Flynn Goward, Managing Director of Star Sports:
“As the Home of Greyhound Racing here at Star Sports, we are delighted to be one of the partners supporting AYOZAT to showcase the Greyhound Derby. It is essential that the marquee Greyhound event in the UK has its rightful place in the spotlight, which the AYOZAT team has worked so hard to put on for Greyhound Racing fans.”
Paul Witten, SIS managing director EMEA commented:
“We are delighted to support the AYOZAT initiative to provide full live coverage of all rounds of the Star Sports English Greyhound Derby, and the final itself on free to air television.”
