5 Killed in Jerusalem Shooting

Five people were killed and at least a dozen others injured in a shooting attack on Monday morning at a bus stop in north Jerusalem. The attackers, identified by Israeli police as two Palestinian gunmen, opened fire at the busy Ramot Junction during rush hour. According to Israel’s Medical Emergency Service, Magen David Adom (MDA), the victims included three men in their 30s and two people in their 50s. "Large police forces, under the command of the District Commander, are securing the area. Police bomb disposal units are ensuring the area is safe, while forensic teams are gathering evidence," authorities said.

Witnesses described chaos as shots rang out, sending dozens fleeing from the scene. Some reports said the gunmen may have also fired inside a crowded bus. A civilian and a security officer on site returned fire, killing both attackers. Video footage from the scene showed shattered glass and injured people lying near the road and sidewalk. Paramedics said the area was "chaotic" when they arrived.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, but Hamas has praised the shooting. In response, Israeli security forces launched searches for any additional suspects or explosives and deployed troops to the surrounding area, including villages near Ramallah. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security meeting shortly after the attack to assess the situation.
