‘Reacher’ Star Alan Ritchson Under Investigation After Viral Video Shows Altercation with Nashville Neighbour

NASHVILLE, TN — Life is imitating art in the most turbulent way for Alan Ritchson. The actor, renowned for his portrayal of the unstoppable Jack Reacher, is currently at the center of a police investigation following a physical altercation with a neighbor that was captured on video and leaked online Sunday.

The footage, which first surfaced on TMZ, shows a man identified as Ritchson, 43, in a heated confrontation with a neighbour in a suburban Nashville neighbourhood. The situation quickly escalates from a verbal spat into a physical struggle, with the actor allegedly landing several strikes before the video cuts out.

Dispute Over ‘Disturbing the Peace’

According to local law enforcement and eyewitness reports, the conflict began over a dispute regarding noise and safety in the residential area.

The neighbor, identified as Ronnie Taylor, told authorities that tensions began on Saturday, March 21, when Ritchson was reportedly riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle at high speeds through the neighbourhood. Taylor claims he gestured for the actor to slow down, leading to an exchange of "rude gestures" between the two men.

The situation boiled over the following day, Sunday, March 22, when Ritchson allegedly returned to the street on his bike, this time accompanied by two young children on their own motorbikes.

“I just asked him, ‘Can you f***ing stop this please?’” Taylor told reporters. “It turned aggressive immediately. He didn't want to talk; he wanted to fight.”

The Footage: A Street-Side Brawl

The viral video appears to show Ritchson and Taylor "toe-to-toe" in the middle of the street. In the clip, the man identified as Ritchson is seen:

  • Throwing multiple punches to the neighbour's face.

  • Kicking the individual as he attempts to retreat.

  • Continuing the assault while the man is on the ground.

Critically, the video also shows two young children believed to be Ritchson's sons, watching the entire incident from their own bikes just a few feet away.

No Arrests, But Investigation Looms

As of Monday morning, the Metro Nashville Police Department confirmed they have received an assault report and are currently reviewing the video evidence. No arrests have been made, and Ritchson has not been formally charged.

Taylor, who showed visible bruising and swelling in his police interview, did not seek immediate hospital treatment but has indicated he intends to pursue the matter legally.

The Fallout for ‘Reacher’ and ‘War Machine’

The timing of the incident couldn't be worse for the actor's public image. Ritchson is currently riding a massive wave of success following the release of his Netflix sci-fi film War Machine and is in the midst of preparing for the fourth season of Reacher.

Known for his outspokenness on mental health and his past struggles with trauma, Ritchson has often been praised for his vulnerability off-screen. However, fans on social media are now divided, with some defending his right to protect his family and others condemning the "brutality" of the footage.

“This isn't Jack Reacher; this is a suburban street with kids watching,” one viral post on Reddit's Fauxmoi noted. “There’s no excuse for that level of violence in front of children.”

Ritchson’s representatives have been contacted for comment but have yet to issue an official statement.
